There are many anti anxiety drugs if you have anxiety disorder. Here are some most common drugs that may be prescribed for your anxiety.  

1. Lorazepam (Ativan), Diazepam (Valium), Alprazolam(Xanax) and Clonazepam (Klonopin):

These are called benzodiazepines. These anti anxiety drugs provide you fast relief. You can use them for six months to a year. You can reduce your social phobia and generalized anxiety with Klonopin. Activan helps you relieve panic disorder. And Xanax is a wonder drug for both panic attack and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).

2. Propranolol (Inderal and Inderide):

These anti anxiety drugs are called Beta Blockers. You can use these if you are anticipating an attack. You can control your racing heart and shaking hands with these drugs.

3. Paroxetine (Paxil), Sertraline (Zoloft) and Fluoxetine (Prozac):

These are Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (Well known as SSRIs). If you have social anxiety, panic attack or obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), these are good medications. Because they have less side effects.

4. Venlafaxine XR (Effexor):

These are popular as SNRIs (Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors). These drugs are excellent for generalized anxiety disorder and social phobia. You will have only a few side effects.

5. Phenelzine (Nardil), Tranylcypromine (Parnate) and Isocarboxazid(Marplan):

These are called Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). These are antidepressants. you can use 'Parnate' for social phobia and panic disorder.
